Sometimes I go through changes where my whole life rearranges
Then I reassess and try my best to deal with what is new
Sometimes I get encouraged and then just as soon discouraged
By the twists and turns, the breaks and burns life always puts me through
And a person can only take so much
Before touching base or totally losing touch
So I’ll turn a few more pages, there’s no telling what they’re bringing

AND I WISH I WERE A BIRD WHO COULD JUST FLY AWAY SINGING

There’s a man that I’ve been seeing when we have time to be sharing
Though we’ve got a lot in common, we are not alike at all
He will never say “I love you”, still I know that he is caring
And I ride those waves of feeling that he feels he doesn’t show
We have made our plans that lead us different ways
And I know we’ll say goodbye one of these days
Though I wish I could stay with him, this is not the time for clinging

There’s the places to be playing that I’ll go off searching after
And I’ll find them or I’ll make them cause I need them to be there
There’s the freedom I am missing that calls to me with its laughter
And new friends with hearts to take me to the places that we’ll share
The road is such a long and winding thing
If only I could soar and spread my wings
And you know that I am ready, and I long not to be lingering
